Nietzsche says people often portray their virtues and their vices
For example i have a fiend that sport bets a lot and shows me his wins but really it’s a cope for him not having excitement in his life
I know another guy that works all the time and likes to hint at how important work ethic is but really he has nothing else to do and is lonely
Another variation of this is we display the things that come easiest to us as the things that are hardest. In the workaholic example he likes to pretend that work is really hard, when really the hard thing would be for him to spend time with his family.
