Today we said goodbye to the legend herself. She was so much more than a Prius, she was a loyal, reliable and green gateway to countless memories and adventures. She was my second and by far longest lasting car. Even when I got #3 she still stuck around refusing to die. She was my first car in LA and from the moment I got her she was a gateway to possibilities. The original plan was to paint her hulk green and put scissor doors on her but life happened and we changed our priorities. She chugged along for years, crossing the US twice, up and down Northern and Southern California dozens of times, from LA to Vegas and back and on so many film sets and locations that she had no business being on. She lived life to the fullest, and when not dodging morons on the road she could have been found at Disney Interactive, on the Universal backlot, various beach’s and hiking spots. We boldly faced wild fires, blizzards, floods and pushed Toyota engineering beyond the limits; while ascending mountain peaks, traversing vast deserts and brutal weather conditions. She was an absolute menace to wildlife, silent as an assassin. So many animals died darting in front of her. Countless squirrels, a dog, a couple of cats and at least one groundhog. Her bloodlust was insatiable. She had survived untold problems including inumereble check engine lights, being broken into (purses should not be left on front seats) battery replacements, hydraulic line failures, the list goes on and on. In the end she did not go quietly into the great junkyard in the sky, she still ran. I truly feel she easily had another 100 thousand miles in her heart but it wasn’t meant to be. Rest easy green Prius. You were my number 2 car but my number 1 for 14 years.
