The Stanley cup trend feels over the top to me

I might be alone on this, but I don’t get why the Stanley cup is treated like some must have item. It’s a cup that holds water and yes it keeps it cold but so do a lot of other bottles that don’t take up half your bag. This thing has become almost a must have for my students.

I’ve seen people go out of their way to collect different colors and even trade them, which feels a bit excessive. At that point it stops being about hydration and starts feeling like showing off. I’ve even read product breakdowns and manufacturing chatter where similar materials and designs come up, so I’m not convinced it’s doing anything revolutionary.

I’m not saying it’s bad, just that the level of attention it’s getting doesn’t match what it does. Maybe I’m missing something here. If you’re really into them, what makes it worth it for you beyond just having a nice-looking cup?
