Have a handful of these holes throughout my floor, what’s the most effective way to seal them?

Looking for input on some methods to properly seal these holes, my best guess is to cut wood down to match as closely as possible and hammer it in. I am not overly concerned with the cosmetics, just want to seal these to avoided spiders etc nesting
