With the arrival of Season 3, the M16A4, the RPK74, and the L96 will be added, so they won’t be mentioned in my list. In my opinion, there are some weapons that are far too iconic not to be included.
- FAMAS: it’s my favorite weapon from BF3 and BF4, extremely fun and the perfect example of a “glass cannon.” I don’t understand why DICE added the VCR (VHS), which looks like a TEMU version of it and doesn’t even reach 1000 RPM, basically making it just a clone of the Kord or the M4A1.
- SCAR H: DICE chose the SCAR L (SOR 556) instead, but gave it a terrible rate of fire and 25 damage. The result? A trash weapon that loses badly in every scenario (not counting REDSEC). It would conflict with the AK4D in the current game, but I think simply rebalancing that one at longer ranges would be enough.
- MP5K: a perfect SMG for hipfire, but with huge bullet spread beyond 25 meters. I loved it in BF3, even though it wasn’t anything amazing.
- AUG-A3: the definition of a balanced weapon, which I would have preferred over the L86, since I find it visually rough and ugly. In the current game, it would be extremely similar to rifles like the SCAR L or the L86, so I have no idea how to balance it to make it stand out.
- AK47/AKM: the most widespread weapon on the planet isn’t in this game. Crazy. But sure, we have two RPKs and MG4s variants. In the current game, it would be too similar to the NVO (Galil Ace), so I’m not sure how to balance it to avoid it becoming a clone... maybe I’d give it 30 damage with a drop-off to 20 after 25 meters.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
- M-TAR21: absolutely loved in BF4, but right now it would be too similar to the GRT or the M4A1.
- FN2000: a fun alternative, but too similar to the M433.
- M416: exotic, but the DRS IAR already exists, which is basically a clone both visually and performance-wise.
