I participated in my first Mosh Pit a few days ago!
I've been to several concerts over the years. Arch Enemy, Bleed From Within, Lamb of God, Trivium, BABYMETAL, Killswitch Engage, Overkill, Testament, Kamelot, Amon Amarth, Unleash the Archers, Kreator, the Halo Effect, and sooooo much more.
But I've never been in a mosh pit before. I've had a lot of bad shit happen to me last year that I'm not going to go into, but I decided 2026 would be a year of change for me. I bought tickets to see TWICE(K Pop group) despite how expensive they were and in the nosebleeds, but fuck it I wanted to experience a K Pop show by an artist I liked. Great show too.
Then I realized I've never moshed before. I bought tickets to see Bleed from Within this year and told myself I was gonna mosh for their breakdown in Pathfinder. I was sick on my stomach from the food I ate before going to the venue. Still one of the greatest shows I've been too despite that.
I'm a big fan of Exodus. I love their lyrics and Gary Holt is personally my favorite guitarist of all time. I saw them support for Testament during their Bay Area Thrash tour a few years ago. And GOD DAMN their riffs are even nastier live. In a good way, obviously. This was at Sepultura's Farewell Tour across the United States. I knew what I was getting into because Exodus's pits are fucking nuts.
I was gonna wait to mosh for Jinjer's Fast Draw later this year, but told myself if I don't do it now I'll never do it. I'm in my early 30s now. I tell my brother that I'm going to mosh for Exodus's Strike of the Beast. He is surprised because he also went to see the same Testament show I talked about in the paragraph above.
I waited for the Wall of Death to form before the solo in Strike of the Beast. I have a dude come up to me and say how fucking cool my Overkill shirt was as everyone was waiting for Dukes to give the signal to go. Dukes finally gives the ok and I survive the collision, but then trip or someone falls down and catches my floor causing me to trip? Maybe I didn't go fast enough and caused someone to trip up behind me? As soon as I hit the ground I feel 6 hands hoist me up. One of my toes is cramping for whatever reason, so I limp out of the pit.
I had my 10-15 seconds of fun. Glad I did it just to see what it was like. Never doing it again though. I didn't get hurt at all either. Now another thing I plan to do next is try and get barricades for a band I absolutely fucking adore. I've never done so due to feeling like I wasn't a big enough fan to justify it. Here's hoping Exodus announces a headlining show so I can get barricades for them!
tldr: Dude in his early 30s moshes for the first time to Exodus's Strike of the Beast.
EDIT: My brother considers me the most Metal guy in all of our friend groups due to this too! I'm trying to get him to mosh for Dying Wish if they come around here since he's super obsessed with them.
