Another "what should I get?" thread, I'm afraid.
This will be my first EV since I have started a new job and it is either a company EV or a cash allowance but the tax advantage etc. makes EV a no brainer.
The list is pretty comprehensive but I guess the main ones I am interested in are:
Tesla Model 3 Premium Long Range AWD or RWD
VW id7 Match Pro S Plus
Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor
Skoda Enyaq 85
Volvo EX40 Extended Range
Audi Q4 e-tron 45 82kWh
There are a few others that I like but I think range is probably not near the listed ones (e.g. BMW i4 gran coupe)
The factors that matter to me are:
Range - a couple or a few times a month, I will need to drive to sites 200-250miles away. I can expense public charging for the return leg so that isn't a massive concern.
Boot size/space. I will be keeping a carry on case in the boot most of the time as well as a couple of tool bags and a laptop bag. Ideally also room for a pram and good space for car seat inside.
Comfort - not too bothered about being ultra rapid or mega firm ride. I'm not going to be racing anywhere but will appreciate comfortable seat and position on longer trips. Also not a massive fan of ultra spartan interiors which puts me off the Tesla a little.
In terms of charging, I have an Ohme charger at home (got it installed as wife will get an EV when her current lease is due) so I'd want to be able to use that with a type 2 charger. I understand Tesla's don't come with one? Assume you can buy one separately though. I also will rely on public charging as will do 500mile plus round trips so need something practical for that. The best range car on the list looked to be the Merc CLA but I understand it only uses 800VDC chargers for fast charging which is a much less accessible type... I guess pretty much everything else works on more common 400VDC chargers?
