Looking for thoughts on writing lyrics you don't "feel"?

Is it somehow disingenuous to write a song about something that doesn't come from inside of you? I'm not talking about a song about some person you saw on the sidewalk or something, because that's still your experience.

Context: someone asked me to write some rap lyrics. Now, I can do that: I can make great rhymes, tell a great story, be entertaining... but it would in no way be "me," would it? Or, say blues: I can take a blues melody and fit in some seriously meaningful lyrics on the futility of life or something... but I'm really a happy-go-lucky kinda goofy guy: would it really be blues if I wasn't blue?

I understand there's a difference between art and craftsmanship... but is there a hard dividing line?

Not a life or death question, obviously. Just looking for opinions...

Do you always color within the book?

I hope I didn't ask this before, but scrolling through this sub, it seems like most people leave the page in the book when they color. Is there a reason? Am I reading it correctly? 'cause it would drive me absolutely bananas...

Hi. Newbie here. Some stunning work here, but I'd love to know what media you're using to color. I have consistently used colored pencils (and thought I was pretty good until I saw y'all's stuff), but looking to take that medium further... input, please?

I have a world I inhabit in my dreams. Been going for years. Not all dreams, of course but a lot of them take place in the same... ecosystem?

I don't mean the same PLACE... but the parts interconnect. Not perfectly -- these are dreams, after all -- but I know the connections. Like, I know where this house is in relation to that neighborhood or that restaurant, and what road to take to get there.

Seriously, I could draw you a map. I can't be the only one, but whenever I try to tell anyone, they look at me like I'm a couple of pawns short of a chess set...
