I'm curious if anyone else experiences this, especially anyone else with ADHD or autism (I have both)? Or is it just me being too anxious?

When I'm with my daughter (3.5 years old) I feel like she has complete control of my brain. I can barely think about anything beyond a surface level. I'm either talking with her, supervising her while she plays by herself, getting some activity set up or cleaned up for her, guiding her through an activity.

She's not even necessarily demanding my attention or demanding that I play with her, its just her mere presence makes my brain stay in hyper-vigilance mode and I can barely use it to do anything else.

I can only make dinner stress-free if she's watching her TV show (30 minutes per day, so I can make dinner). She goes to preschool so I do get a good chunk of the day to myself and can "use my brain" for everything non-kid related during that time.

Does this happen to anyone else? Any advice?
