I can completely understand why this is the case for Halo CE and Halo 2. However even when Halo 3 came along and Phantoms could be destroyed this still wasn't the case for the Spirit. It never dawned on me that they were invincible until I tried out a mod on MCC that I finally realized that I had just destroyed a Spirit. Even when it should've been possible it wasn't and to this day we still don't have a way to destroy them outside of mods. Did we ever get a reason for this or is it truly just a case of "this really isn't necessary"? Disregarding Halo Wars 1 where it can be shot down.
