For the last three days, a bird has stayed at one specific spot on our porch at night. My wife asked one of our more bird enthusiastic friends and we think it is a barn swallow.

He is the most chill bird we have ever seen. We can walk out of our front door as many times as we want, we can join him in hanging out on our porch and he doesn't move an inch. But every morning he is gone, only to return when the sun goes down each night.

I guess my main question is why? Why has he deemed a small perch on the top of our porch his place to rest? Why does he not use the abandoned birds nest that is five feet away on the same exact perch he now calls home?

We are very much enjoying our time with our new friend, but we do not understand how this has happened. Do we think he would use a bird house or a bird feeder if we installed one?
