Hey guys,
I think my GAS hits hard again... and I need help 😂
I have a pre-mill La Lapavoni Professional with a few mods (bong insolator, B-push valve system) paired with a KINU M47 grinder and am thinking of what's next. I was wondering whether I should go for the piston pressure kit for the LaPavoni, or a completely new lever like the Flair 58+.
Regarding the grinder I am pretty satisfied, although I sometimes think an electric grinder would be more convenient.
Regarding the LaPavoni I am satisfied in terms of getting consistent / delicious shots. Nevertheless, I somehow do not trust this machine - would never leave it unobserved while running.
I have a Flair Signature Pro2 as well, which I use for vacation, although I have to admit that I prefer to use it more often it lately - simply due to the quick workflow compared to the La Pavoni that needs a bit to heat up. The only downside of the workflow is the inconveniece when it comes to doing more than one shot and having to handle the hot brew chamber...
That's why I am eyeing the Flair 58+. The Flair 58+ solves all preheating issues, you don't have to disassemble the hot brew chamber for a second shot, and compared to the LaPavoni it uses always fresh water (no old boiler that looks questionable and has to be descaled more often than the Flair).
I like to have a system that is as clean as possible - no inconvenient cleaning / descaling.... And I like to tinker around a little bit. Does it have to be a lever machine? Not necessarily - I thought of a GCP with a gagguino mod as well... but this again would not be the most convenient model regarding cleaning / descaling.
Grinder-wise I could imagine to purchase a grinder which allows me to switch between pour-over and espresso quickly and in a convenient way. I have a Eureka Mignon MCI already, which I use for pour-over now. I do not like it very much - it got stuck a lot of times which made me disassemble it ...
So why am I wondering what's next? Mostly due to convenience issues (pre-heating the LP, descaling it, playing around with the temperature, not knowing the pressure while pulling the shots) and due to GAS of course.
Should I just take a deep breath, calm down, and be content with what I have? The LP and the KINU M47 are pretty end game for a lever machine/manual grinder, I guess...
