I noticed my air bleed valve on my cast iron baseboard heater has a very slow leak through the circle holes around the valve. I can put a paper towel around it and it take hours to become wet.
I tried to get an hvac company to come take a look, as i was scared to replace it and cracking the threads, but the guy said I need a plummer to do this work, that he doesnt have the license for it... He over tightened the top flat head (got an extra quarter turn), charged me 100 bucks and left. Tightening it more did not fix the issue...
So now I want to just fix it myself, which requires draining the system so i can try to remove this valve.
I have been struggling to find the right replacement part, all I see online are cheap chrome coated brass valves. Can I use a brass valve to replace this or will it interact with the cast iron and corrode?
Any help with guiding me with a replacement part appreciated, thanks!
