Hi everyone,

I’ve recently started using a fully natural shampoo made at home with amla, reetha (soapnut), hibiscus, shikakai, bhringraj, flaxseed, and aloe vera. I’m not adding any soap base—just these ingredients for cleansing and nourishment.

My hair is long and thick, and I usually oil it before washing. The issue I’m facing is that this natural shampoo doesn’t seem to remove oil effectively, even after washing properly.

Also, I’ve heard from some people that reetha can cause hair to turn white or lead to premature greying. Since hearing that, I’ve been overthinking and even feeling like my hair looks lighter (which might just be anxiety, honestly 😅).

So I wanted to ask:

  • Has anyone here used a similar natural shampoo regularly?
  • Does it effectively remove oil from the scalp, especially for thick/long hair?
  • Most importantly—does reetha actually cause hair to turn white, or is that just a myth?

For context, I’ve been dealing with a lot of hair fall recently (I know it could be due to internal factors too), and I’m trying to move away from harsh chemical shampoos and conditioners.

I’d really appreciate any honest experiences or advice. Thanks in advance!
