We are currently fostering siblings who are about to become adoptable, and we do plan to adopt them. One of them is named Ivey. Would it be wrong to change her spelling to Ivy when adopting and changing her last name?

My motive is spelling the classic name “correctly” so she’s not saying “Ivey with an -ey” the rest of her life. She is 3yo and cannot spell her own name yet, I just don’t know if it’s wrong due to her birth parents naming her Ivey with the E. Thanks!
