Should I continue on the topical med/hair transplant route or go directly to a hair system?

The first pic is a comparison from when I first started topical meds. There is some improvement although there are ways to go, and I would never expect it to fill in completely.

The second pic is the hairline. The topical meds have done little or nothing for that.

I've thought about continuing the topical solution and maybe the top gets to the point where hair fibers make the difference, and perhaps do a hair transplant on the front.

The other option is to rip the band aid off, cut my losses, and just go directly to a hair system.

I had a couple of consults at HT clinics. One said that the top and front would likely require separate transplants with a possible third down the line.

Another place does both hair transplants and hair systems and she recommended a transplant, saying that hair systems are more for those who are NW6 or beyond.

Any ideas on where I should go from here?

What should I do with my hair?

Due for a haircut. I normally go with a #4 or 5 on sides and a little off the top. Should I stick with the status quo or try something else?

Update - 7 months on topical fin/min

Should I stay the course? Some say to give it 6 months but I have also heard a year is ideal. It's far from ideal but there seems to have been some improvement.

Would this be a good change to a more androgynous appearance?

The proposed look is the first pic and current look is the second pic. For some time, I have been pondering dyeing my hair and adding some ear piercings and a nose ring. Never went through with any of this. Would any of this suit me? Or would it look ridiculous? Any other suggestions would be welcome!
