SSDI Update
My application was submitted in August 2025. I had an interview with an SSA doctor/therapist in late March/early April. Surprisingly, I was approved on April 29! Here are some of the things I think helped the process:
- I used an attorney. They reviewed everything before submitting it to SSA for me electronically. While they didn’t comment on anything I submitted, it gave me peace of mind that they reviewed it and submitted it for me.
- I took charge of getting all of my prior healthcare documents. It was much easier than I thought - took me about 2 days to corral about six years worth of records.
- I KEPT SEEING MY PSYCHIATRIST AND MY THERAPIST. I would have anyway, but continuing treatment information was definitely a factor. I also let the law firm know when my medications changed.
- My therapist submitted a letter on my behalf, and my psychiatrist filled out a work limitations form - this was key as I used to have a professional, white-collar career.
Those were key. I also followed a couple of attorneys that practice disability law - DM me if you want the links.
Cheers.
