Bayard Taylor was a famous 19th-century author who wrote a dramatic play about the rise of a prophet/religious movement. 19th-century critics criticized his play because of its clear Mormon influence. They seemed to think that writing about Mormons was vulgar and an unfitting topic for a famous author. He then tried to deny that the story was influenced by the Mormon story, but no one believed it. Curious, I sought out the book only to find it written in a poetry verse that was very difficult to understand. So I decided to make a podcast of his story reimagined with clear and easy-to-understand prose. His story is very insightful into the basic workings of the rise of religious movements and the harm they do.
