Secondary intention after superficial necrosis – how long to heal?

Secondary intention after superficial necrosis – how long to heal?

Hi everyone,

I got circumcised 3 weeks ago and generally everything healed well, but on two spots on the lower side the skin died (and then fell off), presumably due to too tight bandages.

This happened after about 1.5 weeks and since then (1.5 weeks) the "hole" that was left is healing through secondary intention.

The surgeon, I'm seeing him every week, is not worried and told me to keep applying Bepanthen and remove any fibrin that forms to enable the closing of the wound.

He's saying this will heal in about 2-3 weeks, but given the awful look of the wound I'm having a hard time believing it...

Did anyone go through something similar? I saw the great posts by /u/Simsalajimm that helped me a lot, as his much larger wound healed great and closed within 6 weeks.

My wound is smaller, but – I've read that's often the case – doesn't seem to improve at all until now. If you have experience, how long do you think this will take?

Thanks a lot for any responses. I like the result a lot otherwise and I'm excited to try it out once it's healed!
