Are there any disadvantages? Or is it better to just open certain ports?

In that context, would it be advisable to set the DNS settings to Google servers? Or does this barely make a difference?

I assume none of the above has a positive effect on lowering latency since that depends on my provider.

I'm trying achieve a solid connection when playing online games.
