Ignore the state of my other piercings, they're all upsized to accommodate for swelling
Hi there! So I appear to have a small infection behind a 3 month old piercing. I dont think it's piercing related because despite the big irritation bump, the piercing isn't producing puss, and doesnt smell. It hurts like hell and is swollen but I have the same piercing on the other side thats healed so it's fairly normal. The bump appeared around 2 weeks ago and has gotten bigger so I made the (questionable) decision to poke a small hole in it to see if there was any puss, which there was. Im a paramedic student and had one of my coworkers pop it with a sterile 26g dental needle. The photo is it after we popped it. My question is, I was prescribed augmentin by one of the EC Dr's that I work with who wasn't sure if it was infected (she just looked didnt do an in depth assessment) but said to take it if it got worse (it did, which is why we popped it). Should I take it? Ive attached a photo of the piercing as well in case someone wanted to make sure it wasn't the piercing.
