My Bf 22/M only ever compliments my 21/F body

To start off my bf has always treated me well like he still checks up on me and plans for dates. I know and feel that he still loves me but I personally find it weird that he hardly ever calls me pretty or cute or wtv adjective there is to describe face. He only just compliments my body.. Although in letters or cards he would still call me beautiful or if I wear a certain outfit he will only then calls me pretty/cute. In the past it was actually more rare to ever hear him compliment me and has gotten so bad where I actually had a meltdown over it. What finally made me decided to post this is when today while video calling I just showed him a picture of my outfit for our date tomorrow ( I wasn't even wearing it , I was just showing the clothes laying down flat) but he began saying that my body is irresistible and when I just jokingly asked what about my face then he began ignoring that I asked that. I find it very odd but in the past (the period where he didn't compliment me) he did said that he wasn't raised being complimented or giving compliments so now that he grew up he feels "out of place" receiving and giving it. Personally, I still don't understand how he can confidently compliment my body but not my face? How can I get him to understand that I find this specific thing just odd lol....
