Over prescription scam

Has anyone else encountered this?

I was contacted months ago by people claiming to be with Workers Compensation.

They were offering a pain management solution for dealing with an injury I had at the time (a real claim I was receiving treatment for)

Multiple times I was assured that I would not be charged and that it had been approved.

This involved pain medication and a red light therapy device.

They had my details already, who my adjuster was and my claim number, so everything seemed to be in order. (My actual doctor had even mentioned possibly getting a red light therapy device)

A few weeks pass and I receive notice from Workers Comp that they would not be covering this.

I have since received a bunch of medication and a device, each one followed by a denial by Workers Comp.

The medications and devices are super inflated on the invoices. Total now exceeding $35k in denied claims.

I have had no further contact with these people, I tried calling back the number to no avail.

I have been back and forth with Workers Comp, KEMI, trying to get to the bottom of how these people got my details and what their agenda is. Finally they told me today that this is a known scam.

I'm guessing I will soon be hit by collector's seeking payment for the denied claims. Otherwise I'm not really sure what the scam is, unless they expected the insurance company to just pay out but why keep sending more medication after the initial claim?

Has anyone any advice?
