Body:
Hi everyone, I’m struggling with a huge performance issue on my new laptop and I’m desperate.

Specs:

  • Model: MSI Cyborg 15
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop
  • OS: Windows 11
  • Game: Geometry Dash (but happens with everything)

The Problem:
Whenever I try to record with OBS, the video output is extremely choppy (around 10-15 FPS), even though the game seems to run fine or with minor stutters. I’ve run LatencyMon and the results are terrifying: I get massive spikes (up to 29,000 µs) even on idle (no apps open).

Main culprits identified by LatencyMon:

  • dxgkrnl.sys (DirectX Graphics Kernel)
  • nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Driver)
  • ACPI.sys (Power Management)
  • ntoskrnl.exe

What I’ve already tried:

  1. Running OBS as Administrator.
  2. Forcing both OBS and the game to use the High-Performance GPU (RTX 4070) in Windows Graphics Settings.
  3. Disabling HAGS (Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling).
  4. Disabling Core Isolation / Memory Integrity in Windows Security.
  5. Setting Power Plans to "Extreme Performance" in MSI Center and "High Performance" in Windows.
  6. Disabling V-Sync and using FPS Bypass in-game.
  7. Switching between Game Capture and Window Capture (BitBlt/Windows 10).
  8. Disabling Game Mode and NVIDIA Overlay.
  9. Disabling Link State Power Management for PCI Express.

Nothing worked. The latency stays red even when the PC is doing nothing. I’m about to try a clean driver install via DDU, but I’m worried about the BitLocker recovery key situation.

Is there anything specific to MSI Cyborg or the 4000 series mobile GPUs that could cause such massive DPC latency? Could it be a faulty power adapter or a BIOS issue?

Any help would be appreciated. I just want to record my gameplay at a stable 60 FPS. Thanks!
