Hello! I am planning to start WGU on June 1st to pursue my B.A. in elementary education. I have some transfer credits but based on my transfer eval I only had 8 courses transfer so I still have about 29 courses to go. I am looking for more insight (not sponsored, not degree hacking whatever it's called) onto a realistic timeline in completing all of these courses. I primarily have the education based courses left. The few geneds I have I think I can knock it fairly quickly, but I am not sure how WGU is set up.
I know we have six months to complete 4 courses, but you can go over. How much time do you guys give yourself to complete a course? Do you do them one at a time or do a couple simultaneously? Is 6-8 weeks a reasonable time to do 2-3 courses at once, or would more time be necessary on average? I'm sure some classes will be more difficult than others and that I will need more time for some - but I'm curious as to how quickly I can get through them while still learning the material.
Another thing that I'm hung up on is the student teaching. D717 and D718, (I'm having a hard time finding the course catalog for WGU). How do these look within an actual school setting when i am doing the student teaching? If I were to start these Fall 2027 (hypothetically), would it be like time between the start of the school year and then fall break, then the second one after fall break to winter break? I'm trying to remember how long we had student teachers when I was in elementary and middle school, but time worked differently in a childs brain lol.
Anyway, thank you for your time to respond, I look forward to any advice or tips given!
