How do I stop getting inconsistent gaps in patterns where you skip stitches?
I have done a couple of patterns so far that involve skipping 1-3 stitches while doing double crochet stitches and keep having trouble where some of the holes in the bridge between double crochets is really inconsistent. Some of them have really big holes like the one I marked in red, while others have smaller holes like the green and blue arrows. I am having trouble figuring out the cause of this. I have tried both tightening up and loosening my tension after skipping the stitches but that seems to have no impact. I have also tried folding the fabric over some when working into the next stitch so that the distance the yarn and hook has to travel is shorter but that didn’t seem to help either. I noticed in this pattern it seems to be the worst between the 1dc and the 1st dc of the shell. Is there a way to fix this or am I just being overly picky about these gaps?
