16F stuck between staying in the U.S. for school or moving to Mexico—need advice
Hey, I’m 16F and I’d really appreciate advice from different perspectives because I feel stuck in a situation I don’t see talked about much.
My parents are planning to move back to Mexico, but I’ve been given the option to stay in the U.S. and finish high school. I wasn’t born here, so part of me feels like I should make the best out of the time and opportunities I have here while I can. I started school late and I’m currently finishing my freshman year.
At first, I was doing really well, but now I feel like I’m falling behind. I go to a magnet school, so there’s pressure to keep up, and I’m worried about my performance. That said, my education does matter to me now, and I’m willing to improve and work for a solid diploma.
The hard part is deciding where I should do that.
If I stay, I’ll be living with a trusted adult and finishing school in the U.S., which might give me more opportunities. But I’m also unsure because I plan to go back to Mexico after high school anyway, and I don’t know how much a U.S. diploma will actually help me there.
If I leave, I’ll be with my family, but I’ll have to adjust to a completely different education system and environment.
I keep going back and forth. I say I’ll stay, then I feel regret. I say I’ll leave, and I feel the same way.
If you were in my position, what would you do?
And how do you make a decision when both options feel uncertain?

Edit: Your feedback helps alot, actually, I really appreciate it. After looking through your guys’s comments, I get that High School diplomas aren’t as much worthy as further more advanced ones, and for the moment it looks like I will be considering following along my parents. It will be hard to have similar US classes without paying, but it is what it is. By chance does anyone know how Mexican systems work? What grade would I be entering and what necessary documents I would be asked to bring? Again thank you so much
