Luckily, I haven't seen many people in this sub doing this, and I think it's getting better and better by the year. But there is this one thing that really irks me about how some people keep their jumping spiders.
I've seen some people making full on doll houses for them, making stuff out of lego's, basically keeping them as toys. Personally, I believe that's a very sad way to keep them. They are still animals, they have instincts. They don't care if you put a spiderman figure in there, they care if there is plants, corkbark, stuff like that. Mixing it is not a problem, I feel. But making a dollhouse for these creatures is just bad.
Then there is sizing. These are very active animals. In my experience, they need a lot of room for such a small creature. I have tarantula's in smaller enclosures, even if the jumper is smaller. Different needs, different husbandry. Personally, I keep adults in enclosures of 20x20x30cm and they use every square inch of it.
They're animals, not toys.
I'm curious about your opinions of this, so please chime in. I put some pictures of what I am talking about.
