Yet another post around the James Hoffmann video on steaming water.
I have a Delonghi Dedica. This machine gives hot water through the steam wand when not in steaming mode. It takes fresh water from the tank and heats it up instantly using the thermoblock.
I am currently not home for a couple more weeks so I cannot test this myself, but I was wondering if the difference between extracting the heated water from the machine vs steaming the water to temp is also that different.
On one hand it might not be because in absence of a boiler the mineral buildup doesn't affect the water. On the other hand, people say even kettle water is different than steaming it.
I've been drinking Americanos as well as "hot aerocanos" and I've been enjoying both of them. I never really tasted anything weird in the drink, and I often use the hot water from the machine for tea, hot chocolate, etc.
If someone has a machine with a thermoblock/thermocoil and the capability to extract hot water, can you do some testing and share your experience to satisfy my curiosity until I get back home and can test it myself?
