Post-op complications after open surgery of umbilical hernia

Hello, I’ve recently discovered this sub and I’m wondering if anyone had/has similar experience as me.

Month ago (march 16) I had surgery of my umbilical hernia (about 4 cm) with mesh and I had a very bad pain in my belly button which resulted in an abscess bursting out of my belly button 10 days post-op. I was rushed to the ER, they cleaned it (kinda), prescribed antibiotics and sent me home scheduling check up for the next day.

It all seemed fine but 5 days after that, my scar got opened a bit and everything that’s been leaking from my belly button started leaking from the scar. I went to see my surgeon, he put aquacel in the hole in my scar and told me to take it out two days after. The color of the liquid changed from green, to brown and then to orange/yellowish.

On April 10th the scar closed and my surgeon said it’s healed and I’m fine now. Well, four days after that, a small bubble appeared on my scar (same place where the hole was before) and it was filled with liquid, I’m guessing seroma. But it’s getting bigger each day and I fear it will go wrong again.

I’m seeing my surgeon tomorrow but I’m sick of everybody telling me it’s fine and normal and it happens and all that. I get that but is there anyone with similar experience and how long did it take to heal properly? I talked to three different surgeons (my surgeon from the clinic where the surgery happened and two other surgeons in a hospital) and nobody is concerned but like they didn’t even do an ultrasound or anything. Is this normal? 😩
