Hello and thanks for reading my post. I just moved to Athens recently and don’t have a lot of friends here. I mostly hang out with my roommates but I’m the type of person who wants to get to know their surroundings and make connections wherever they go. I just moved to Magnolia street (not to dox myself) and have been told it’s not on of the better places to attempt to be friends with neighbors and I wanted to ask if there’s an overall courtesy on trying to befriend your neighbors in the area. I am also a black man but I’m not sure if that detail can or should influence whether or not I should approach making friends in the area.

All in all, I guess I just wanted some advice on if it’s okay to make friends with your neighbors in this area and where are some good places one can go to in the area to make friends with other folks 25 and up? I’ve been told Normaltown is a good start.
