In Ahsoka, he looks cool, but doesn’t really do much before he’s taken out. And with the green mist when he dies, it’s pretty clear he was being held together by Nightsister magic.

Maul: Shadow Lord actually commits to that and turns him into a real threat. He holds his own against Jedi and even against Maul, and although Maul’s leg wasn’t 100%, it’s still impressive how well he keeps up.

They also lean into this detective, bounty hunter vibe, like a more calculated, Boba Fett style Inquisitor, and it works. His presence, his aura, everything about him feels sharper and more intentional.

This is a clear glow-up for the character. Night and day difference from live action.

I know this probably isn’t a super original take, but to me it just feels like a downgrade. Not bad, just different in a way that doesn’t hit as hard. The vibe isn’t the same, the cinematography feels flatter, and the color grading doesn’t have that gritty look the Netflix show nailed.

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again has been fine, but it hasn’t really blown me away or matched the highs of the original series.

Curious what everyone else thinks. Agree, disagree, either way that’s the point of these discussions.

I’ve felt this way for a while now, but animated Star Wars just feels way more consistent than live action. The live action stuff under Disney has been hit or miss for me, but animation almost always delivers when it comes to storytelling and overall quality.

Even with something like Ahsoka, which I did enjoy, I can’t help but feel it might’ve been even better as an animated series. Animation just gives them more freedom with movement, lightsaber fights, and overall presentation in a way live action can’t always match.

Watching Maul: Shadow Lord really reinforced that for me. It’s been fantastic so far, the writing, voice acting, and animation all feel sharp and intentional.

I know this probably isn’t a groundbreaking take, but I’m curious where people stand. Do you think Star Wars works better in animation, or do you still prefer live action when it hits?
