My partner and I are building our first (and ideally last) home. I have a few questions regarding make up air as we are looking at installing a decent range hood. I love cooking and I want to be able to cook steaks and use my wok without setting off an alarm or smoking out the house.
A few details:
-Bungalow with a walkout basement, roughly 2100 sq ft living space on main floor, partially but mostly unfinished basement
-Constructed with ICF up to the roof line
-Whole home heat pump with two zones (main floor and basement)
Daikin fit 3 ton DH6VSA3610 heat pump
DFVE36DP1300 air handling unit
15kw auxiliary heater
Aldes ERV 150
HE150C1014 home humidifier
I am a little lost as far as makeup air is concerned. As far as I'm aware our municipality does not have any code around requiring it, but given the amount of cooking we do, and the fact we want an effective range hood, make up air seems required.
We live in Atlantic Canada, so just opening a window is not ideal basically year round - wet and cold in the winter, and wet and warm in the summer.
Will a separate make up air unit or baffle be required for most powerful range hoods with all of the other HVAC units we plan to install already?
These are the range hoods we are looking at
42 inch with 600 cfm remote blower
42 inch with 1000cfm remote blower (mega overkill I'm sure...)
The plan is to vent the hood through the roof.
Apologies if this has been asked before.
