Thanks to all who helped me out on my post! Appreciate you guys - [Question] - [SPB143] and [SPB383] : r/Seiko - A ton of good info/opinions from all of you to help me decide between the 143 and 383. As both are amazing, I found a brand new, stickered 143 from an AD in Florida. Just arrived today and I think I might be in love a little hahaha

I might get the 383 too when my play fund isn't $0 like it is after this purchase haha.

Hey all, long time Seiko collector here looking for some guidance on the SPB143 and SPB383. My wallet has asked me to keep this brief.

I've had an itch for the 143 for a while now and love everything about it conceptually, but I keep reading about rattling end links and fitment gaps on some examples. Without reading about this, the 143 would have been a slam dunk for me even though I really like both of these. I know QC variance is very much a Seiko thing (we've all made peace with that), but curious if anyone has had consistent luck with theirs, or if there's another 62MAS interpretation in the SPB14x family that sidesteps this issue. I'd prefer to stay OEM on the bracelet if possible, rather than going Strapcode or tropic right away. Not to sound ungrateful, but at this price I feel like I shouldn't have to.

On the 383, I know it's a completely different animal and comparing the two is apples to oranges, but I like both quite a bit. My hesitation is the black date wheel, which I find hard to read because my eyes are starting to get tired. Are there any references within that watch family (or outside of it) that comes with a white date wheel instead?

Both being in the 6R family with a longer power reserve is a plus. I know the accuracy expectations; it's still a workhorse movement. I'm willing to drop a few dollars on something that fits right for me. Would love to hear from owners of either, or any of the Seiko pros lurking here.

Thanks!
