It was a simple mission. Just got down to the town of "Komi", on the planet "DREOVIC".
The small town consists of a communication tower and a few residential buildings located around a town market square. There are many citizens and visitors. There are public communication kiosks. One is in need of maintenance.
But...
The town square was mostly filled with tourists, watching two Orion women dancing to prerecorded music.
Ensign Wall, moving ahead of the main party, saw two people doing something suspicious.
A human and Tellurite were at the back edge of the crowd. Heads together, the were talking, while sending furtive glances at anyone who looked their way.
The human saw Ensign Wall and spun toward him, drawing a weapon. The well-trained security officer fired first, stunning the human.
The Tellurite headed into the crowd, firing a kinetic weapon in the vicinity of Ensign Wall's position.
As Lt. Kyle and Ensign Wall checked and secured their prisoner, the crowd didn't seem to notice, thanks to Ensign Wall's quick reflexes. A quick search found several doses of Splinter, a pouch of Snake leaf and an older model disruptor. They also found a top secret portable data card reader but no card.
A quick discussion left the prisoner secured, and the main party continued toward the malfunctioning comms kiosk, while LT Kyle secured the scene and prisoner.
Engineer Montgomery strolled up to the malfunctioning equipment, knowing that his skills would make this an easy repair. Just as he got close, the Tellurite fired a old fashioned slug thrower from the crowd! Montgomery was down!
The crowd of sightseeing started to become agitated, not understanding what was happening.
Both Lt T'Pow and Ensign Wall were unable to return fire, due to the crowd. Lt Kyle started to maneuver along the right flank, to get a shot, but another shot was fired by an Andorian, who then fled into a nearby building, followed shortly by the Tellurite.
The crowd was starting to panic, many heading toward Lt Cdr Hestor. He saw one of the Orion street dancers about to be trampled, and heroically rescued her.
A second Tellurite, watching from a nearby second story, decided he should get involved, and started firing a stunner at anyone of interest, including Ensign Wall and Lt. T'Pow.
On the right, Lt Kyle was exchanging fire with the two gunmen . Using a retaining wall as cover, he moved toward the criminals.
The crowd was thinning out, as most of the people exited the plaza. One Klingon took up a good vantage point and watched, savoring an excellent raktajino and cheering anyone who was active.
Lt Cdr Hester disentangled himself from the Orion woman, and moved to help Lt Kyle, firing at the windows of the building to his front.
Lt T'Pow bandaged Montgomery and then started to work on repairing the communication kiosk, while Ensign Wall decided to use his grav belt to surprise the Tellurite in the second building.
Ensign Wall managed a good landing onto the walkway right by the 2nd Tellurite, and used his snap shot ability. He missed.
Several shots were heard, and suddenly Ensign Wall fell over the railing to collapse on the ground one floor below.
Lt Cdr Hester managed to stun the Andorian. Lt Kyle raced to the building entrance, and up to the second floor, to see the first Tellurite had disappeared.
Meanwhile, Lt. T'Pow had repaired the communication kiosk, and started to triage Ensign Wall.
The two prisoners were handed over to the Planetary Police Force.
The Federation took the top secret data card descriptor.
Lt. Montgomery had damage to his hand.
Ensign Wall had a concussion, sprains, bruises and abrasions.
The 2 missing Tellurites are now posted for detention if found.
