Hey Everyone, my now 5 Year old setup is running into an problem.
What happens:
My PC freezes completely while gaming and then restarts . No warning just a hard freeze followed by an automatic restart. The Event Viewer only shows an unexpected shutdown with no specific error code. During the freeze sometimes the audio also freezes/loops on the last sound before the system restarts.
This started on Windows 10 where it happened frequently. I took it to a well reviewed repair shop where a technician tested it and concluded, after not being able to replicate it , that it was not a hardware issue and suspected software. After taking it home I wasn’t having any problems for a day before it happened again and I could replicate it by just turning on a game and playing for a few minutes. Based on that and the advice I got I did a clean install of Windows 11. It ran fine for 3-4 days, then the freeze happened again. However unlike on Windows 10, I was not able to replicate it afterwards and the freeze and restart was much faster.
Specs:
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
• GPU: MSI RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio
• Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B450-Plus II
• RAM: G.Skill F4-3000 32GB DDR4 (Dual Channel) (Currently running at 2133MHz / DOCP Auto)
• PSU: be quiet! 650W
• Storage: Kingston NVMe SSD 500GB (C:), Lexar SSD 1TB and a faulty TOSHIBA HDD (Currently disabled in Device Manager because it caused me issues once a few years ago).
• OS: Windows 11 (freshly installed)
• Monitors: Dual setup (4K 144Hz + 1080p 60Hz).
I’m attaching some HWInfo screens inside during stresstest (sorry for bad quality). The Pcie errors are recovering count.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Happy to provide more info or screenshots
