This is a throwaway. I29M am pretty much a social outcast, people see me as a weirdo, a nerd, things like that. I’ve never had a girlfriend, I’m awkward. I’m really not as odd as people assume though. I live at home with my mother still, but the reasoning is she’s schizophrenic and unreliable to take her medication. I’ve been questioned many times why I choose to live here because my mom seems “fine,” but the issue is yes she seems fine right now, but she can and has before just decided to suddenly stop taking her medication.
Anyways, my 2 friends and I were having a few drinks at his sisters house. She had some friends over, one who was actually talking to me a bit, we were getting along pretty well. My friends were telling me to try and take her home with me. A little bit later my friend had said to me “move out of your moms basement so you can bring girls back” as a joke. I don’t live in my moms basement btw. The girl asked me if I still lived with my mom, and I admitted I did. You can tell she was turned off by it, and the conversation shortened. When I went back to talk to my friends my friend continued making jokes how she didn’t like that I lived with my mom so I said, “well aren’t you a father? Where are your children?” For the record, my friend has two kids, two different mothers, who he hasn’t seen in years. I think some people forget he is a father. He got really angry, and I had said it loud enough a few people turned their heads and looked. He ended up telling me to leave, and “go back to my mommy’s house.” So I ended up leaving.
Later on the other friend who was there with us texted that the other friend was really mad at me, and that it wasn’t cool calling him out like that infront of people. I said what about what he was doing to me? He said there was a difference, he was joking. AITA
