Need some help with a failed print. Any guess or theories on why this 1/10 scale tire won't print? multiple failed prints and "ghost prints."
I am trying to print these 1/10 scale tires. (Here is the makerworld link to the STL files. It is also in bambu labs: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2107509-articulated-1-10-chassis#profileId-2279676 ). The print failed multiple times. (*All of the other items in the STL bundle printed fine with no issues.)
I tried printing flipped on both sides, I tried printing with supports, tried printing on different axes, (i don't remember which specific axis had the "most success, but all 3 axes failed). I tried with and without brims and skirts.
The first layers would print seemingly perfectly, then after some time the print would start to "ghost print." I'm not sure how to explain it, but the hotend would move all around like it was printing, but no filament would come out. after the first few layer, nothing would be printing, but it looked like it was printing. I went to sleep a few times, and woke up to my phone alerting me the print was successful and finished, but when I pulled it out, the print had ghost printed again.
I gave up and tried printing a different tire from a different STL file. These printed with the same filament and same bambu lab settings that failed with the other 1/10 tires. I then tried a different more complex print, and there was no issues.
Some settings used:
- I used a Bambu P1S with an AMS Gen1. I tried with Sunlu & Overture filament.
- Calibrated manually; K-Factor .02
- washed hands, washed build plate
- I am using a SUNLU dryer attached to a GEN-1 AMS
- plate 60 °F
- hotend 220 °F
- gyroid infill, line space +1, Z distance 3 f/ top,
- Print speeds were all slowed way down, first layer 50, everything else between 100-3=250, travel 200.
One weird thing. No matter what I do, I can't figure out how to make supports generate for the 1/10 tires. Even If I increase threshold angle, unclick and re-click over hangs, clicking back and forth from prepare to prepare slice. nothing worked and supports would not generate.
Does anyone have any ideas why this would happen or what I can do to fix this print? Any help is appreciated & thanks in advance.
