How should I wire this XLR combo jack?

I have a salvaged 9 pin XLR combo jack I'm trying to wire up. What I'm connecting it to only has two lines, a hot and a cold, no ground. I will really only be using a 1/4" male jack that has a tip and a sleve, no ring, when I use the 1/4" functionality. I don't have any need for the "normal" pins as far as I know. Also, color coding: red=hot, black=cold, green=ground, copper=earth ground.

My basic question is how should I handle the ground (green) pins? Should I connect them both to earth ground? Should I just wire them together and leave them? Should I just leave them separated entirely and only wire the hot and cold?

Am I doing this right?

Probably a wrong tag, but I couldn't find one that was good. Pictures of crude diagrams included.

I'm wiring up a salvaged 9 pin XLR combo jack and I want to make sure I'm on the right track.

My output only has two lines (hot+ and cold), but no ground, and I'll only really use a 1/4" male jack with a tip and sleeve, but no ring.

Should I connect the ground pins to earth ground, or just to each other? Or should I leave pin 1 and S separate entirely?

(Color code: Red=hot, black=cold, green=ground, copper=earth ground)

Am I doing this right?

Not sure if this is the right sub for this, but I want to make sure I'm on the right track.

I have a salvaged 9 pin xlr combo jack I'm trying to wire up. My output only has two lines (hot + and cold -), but no ground. I'll only really use a 1/4" male jack with a tip and sleeve, but no ring.

Should I connect the ground pins to earth ground, or just connect them to each other and leave it? Or just leave pins 1 and S separate entirely?

Attached are two very simple diagrams, red=hot, black=cold, green=ground, copper=earth ground.

Hopefully, I'm making sense. Thank you so much!!

Help fixing M-Audio M-Track Duo

A while ago, I bought this used M-audio M-Track duo off reverb. It came with a broken usb-B port that I didn't know about until it was too late to complain or return, so I'm stuck with it.

Today, I tried to repair it, but it's still not working. I think the main issue is I burned out one of the pads that one of the pins of the port is supposed to connect to (pictured here and crude wiring diagram of the port). I did attempt to connect the pin to another pad nearby, but I thought it might do it, but it's still not working.

Is it toast, or can I connect the pin to whatever part the pad was connecting it to directly? And if the latter does anyone know what part the pad connected to? Thanks so much!!
