Credit card debt
My husband had a Canadian Tire credit card that wasn’t paid off a 3-4 years ago, 2 years ago we got a letter in the mail from a lawyer saying they were going to go to court for the funds (was maybe 3k at the time) we ignored the letter.
Today however my husband got an email from them saying pay by the 15th or they will try for bankruptcy and seize assets? It is in the plan to pay them off for my husbands credit, we’ve had a rough few+ years since we were almost murdered in Alberta, and my husband is just trying to find himself better employment that won’t leave us paycheque to paycheque right now.
My husband is stressed of course, looking for the money to pay them off. Is this a legitimate threat?

Edited again: the debt is $4800, but they’ll take $2800 to settle
