TIFU by not reading a birthday invite fully

So my (F23) bff (F23) invited me to tag along to a birthday party with someone I was acquainted with. I said yeah it sound fun and it was a costume party so we started planning out our costumes. It was a dungeons and dragons themed party which I didn’t completely vibe with but I “oh well” and went along with it. My friend is super introverted so I thought that it wouldn’t be terrible if she knew another person at the party. Anyways we get to the party a week later and I’m making awkward small talk with people I don’t know and playing card games.
We have to wait around a while because for whatever reason the birthday girl was super late but it’s her party so it doesn’t matter that much. We finally got the message that she was heading towards the coffee place where the party was so we stood in a back lot while the birthday girls boyfriend was waving around a wooden sword with renaissance music playing in the background.
Here’s the TIFU part. The birthday girl finally came up so they could have their “final battle” and I didn’t recognize her at all. I whisper to my friend that I thought she said this other girl that I actually knew was the birthday girl but instead it’s another person that I didn’t know at all. So I’m standing in a parking lot, surrounded by cars, in a wizard outfit while the people around me are having a larp battle. It’s cool that they had fun but it was weird for me because I didn’t know anyone there and I was already standing in public in a wizard costume while passerby watched. My friend knew I was pretty uncomfortable and gave me the ok to leave if I wanted and I left. I didn’t stay around for food or drinks because honestly I didn’t know that we were supposed to bring food and I didn’t feel comfortable eating if I didn’t personally contribute.

PS, there was also a guy there that I knew from high school who was pretty mean to me the last time we spoke. We may have been teenagers at the time but it was so bad that we just never spoke to each other again. I deliberately wore a mask and makeup so no one would recognize me but he did end up recognizing me. He struck yup a conversation and I didn’t want to be rude so I just played along until someone else caught his attention.

TLDR; got the names mixed up for a birthday party and ended up in a dungeons and dragons larp battle with people I didn’t know
