We're filling out new hot tub for the first time. I have municipal water. The test from our dealer said we were at about 250 hardness with a target of 25 to 75.

They recommended 24 hours with the vanishing act pillow in the footwell, flipping it halfway. This reduced it to about 185 (confirmed by second dealership test)

They recommended a second vanishing act pillow, but using the XL size. After anoher 24 hours we are at about 150 (judging by color on the test strip).

They've recommended another 24 hours with a third vanishing act XL; however, I'm wondering if a better option would be to have soft water delivered from a local pool water delivery service.
