I’ve been thinking about this for a long time, and I’m kind of stuck now.
I want to start a store/brand targeting the rave / techno crowd (mainly EU / US, especially the German scene). I’m originally from China, and I do have access to supply chains and factories.
But right now, I’m completely lost on what cat to start with.
Option 1:
Should I just sell existing products (like accessories, clothing, etc.)?
→ But I feel like a lot of these products are already everywhere, especially from Chinese sellers across different platforms.
Option 2:
Or should I find a designer and try to build a small brand from scratch?
→ That sounds better long-term, but also much harder and slower.
I’m also struggling with the product category itself:
- Clothing feels risky (EU/US sizing, returns, no fashion background)
- Accessories feel easier, but maybe harder to stand out
I don’t have a formal fashion background, but I do feel like I understand the aesthetic of the crowd (at least the German techno scene).
Another thing is — I keep thinking maybe I need a co-founder based in Europe or the US, but I don’t know if that’s actually necessary or if I’m just overthinking.
Right now I just feel stuck between too many options and not moving at all.
