The FDA is very likely to change course and shut down the market on readily available compounded peptides available by prescription after a ruling scheduled for next month. One of the spokespeople for the agency has already stated that he can’t see any good reason for the market. He also talked of an increased health risk in compounded vs big pharma produced peptides which is a farce. Of course he is willfully excluding the primary reason that market exists, which is cost. This decision is no doubt being influenced and incentivized financially by Big Pharma who have made astronomical profits even beyond their projections ($85 billion to Eli Lilly this year, $2 billion OVER projections), but want to squeeze every billion out as they launched their oral GLP recently and Reta next year. There is no doubt that Reta will be the biggest profit making drug in history. The decision is being strongly contested by the billion dollar compounding market, but that effort is likely to fail in my opinion. Once the compounders are shut out, research peptides will be an easy target as there will be no legitimate reason to import peptides through customs. All products will be seized at the border. This will no doubt leave 100’s of thousands of people whose lives have been improved without any options outside of paying extraordinary amounts of money in order to maintain their health gains. ThTs if they can get a doctor to even write them a prescription. Most will relapse and suffer. Personally I have a plan and am working on a source that should prepare me for at least a decade if everything lines up before the window closes. I’m interested to hear what others are doing if anything, or if most are just winging it and ignoring the inevitable.
