What’s the etiquette for bridesmaid dresses? I got married 6 months ago and bought my MOH her dress etc.

I’ve just been asked by a friend who’s getting married and her bridesmaid dress was exactly the same as mine and the supplier let her down last minute. I asked my MOH if I could get it back so my friend could possibly have it for her wedding as it’s within a week, and she said it’s not in the country and put it back in her parents house as she had no storage in her flat.

I know it’s a bit late to ask about it now, but what’s the general etiquette around BM dresses? Should I have asked for it back since I paid for it? If she had nowhere to store it you’d assume she’d ask if I’d want it back?
