Hi all. I’m getting back into sewing as I want to sew myself a ren faire dress. I own this vouge pattern (image 1-2) in size 6-14, but based on measurements I’m actually a size 20 for this bodice. So I made a mock up bodice yesterday adding a centimetre to the pattern where you need to adjust for size, and it fit me fine.
My inspiration is a mix between pictures 3&4. I already know I have to extend the back of the bodice higher on my back, but I’m curious if it’s worth adding boning, like in the 4 image (lady in front - white and green dress). My problem is I don’t know where I would add the boning channels. My main fabric is velveteen.
Basically im looking for opinions on - should I add boning to the bodice, or only adjust the shape of the bodice to be more like image 3.
If I add boning, where would I place the channels based on image 1&2s bodice please
Also, additional question- for the back I definitely want to do lace up closure for the look. Do I need to extend or reduce the width of the 2 back panels if I don’t want a gap in the lacing closure. Or do I do a fake lace back and have a different opening/closing?
I hope that makes sense. Thank you
