Smarthome or Dumbhome

I moved into a new house this past weekend and now that we are starting to settle in I’m trying to figure out the Smart Home features the previous owners installed. All the blinds are ‘smart’ blinds by Bali, and all the light switches are a still unknown ‘smart’ brand as well.

The light switches work by touch, which is nice to at least be able to have. The blinds however take 8 AA batteries and I cannot seem to connect to them via the Bali app.

Do I need to get my hands on a Google Hub or Alexa or something? Is there one that you all recommend? I’m usually tech savvy, but this is my first dive into smart home devices. Any and all help welcomed. Thank you in advance.

i have an old lenovo tb-8505f with 2 gigs of ram and 16 gigs of storage. apparently runs on a mediatek helio a22 tab quad-core 2.0g cpu. I’ve removed most of the apps and Rooted it (more to learn how than with a plan). Does anyone have any ideas on how to make it run a little smoother? Or maybe what to do with it?

The restaurant I used to work at had a bunch for Grubhub and the like. When they stopped they all went in a drawer. A year later corporate told me to get rid of them, and they said I could have them. Before I donate them (cause I don’t want to trash them), I figured if anyone had any ideas on how to utilize one.
