June trip - lots of questions
Hi all,
So I’ll be travelling with my GF to Taiwan for 10 days in June (9-18th). This will be my first time travelling in Asia, so I’m looking for all the info;
What’s a good hotel to stay at in Taipei? (Nice, good location, not too pricey $150-200 a night maybe?)
What are the must sees (for the whole island, we will be in Taipei for a convention for 5 of those days, the other 5 we’d like to see as many sights as possible.)
Is there a reputable and worthwhile tour company we should look at to check a handful of touristy stops?
Should we bring TWD cash with us? If so, how much is reasonable for 2 adults that want to enjoy the experience of Taiwan?
Is safety a concern for a tourist who doesn’t speak the language in any parts of the island or major city?
Will a Visa or Mastercard be our best option for most situations for payment?
I’ve heard about a Wise card credit card app, is that a better choice?
A friend who went to South Korea mentioned using Naver maps as Google Maps weren’t as useful there, is there any local app or map that is more helpful for us getting around Taipei or Taiwan?
If it makes sense for us to stay somewhere else to see major destinations outside of Taipei, where should we look?
Any customs or culture pieces I should be aware of so as not to offend locals? I’d like to be respectful and a kind traveller as much as possible (as a Canadian, I’m used to saying thank you and sorry lots haha!)
Edit: Should I look into an e-sim situation for my phone?
Any other info I haven’t thought of, feel free to share! Thank you so much! Can’t wait to see this lovely part of the world!
