I don’t know if this is the right sub to post this but my 3.2 year old is currently just impossibly clingy.
It’s been more than a month.
He won’t play with the nanny (we’ve had the same nanny since he was born). He won’t leave me alone for even 2 mins to pee. I thought we were past this stage and separation anxiety peaks earlier. Which it did but we’re back to some level of clinginess that I cannot handle.
He won’t let me work (I work full time from office but some days from home), he won’t let me exercise, he doesn’t want to step out of the house without me.
When we go out he sits in the car seat and I have to give him my hand to hold throughout. If we go out to a cafe or a meal he just has to sit on my lap and will not sit on a chair by himself.
And ofcourse add the threenager tantrums to it which are at the peak. I breakdown and cry everyday. I end up shouting at him which I really really hate myself for afterwards.
He doesn’t listen to me if I say I’ll come in 2 mins or I have a meeting, I’ll finish and come to you. Or I’ll just finish my workout and come back. He just starts crying. He has always been a child who cries too much. Right from birth. It’s probably his personality but I can’t take it anymore.
Husband is around and an equal parent but I’m the preferred parent.
Anyone else go through this and did it ever get better or do I have to wait till my son is a teenager and wouldn’t want to be around me then?
