I had a thought, could this be the source of it all?
(I know this is a meme sub, but I feel like it's relevant, and where else would I post it you know?)
(Please read the entire thing before commenting, also my main point is farther below)
Okay, "the source of it all" is a bold title, but I had to get you to read somehow.
Everyone here knows something is wrong with the shifting community, at least on reddit.
While yes, of course, shifting has existed forever, the shifting community as we know it originated roughly 2020 on TikTok. And I feel like this community is just built on misinformation as its very foundation. A lot of misinformation has just stuck around, we mostly got over some, but not all. Not at all.
When I look at the type of stuff people post on the main subs I feel like there's two very related problems that could be the source of the frustration a lot of peopple righteously express, mainly here on this sub.
When all this started we didn't know much about it. There were just ideas, ideas and experiences, a lot of ideas and experiences, ideas and experiences people tried to make sense out of. People told their stories and theories, other people listened to those theories and stories, and told them to others, and slowly some fundamental ideas and concepts arised.
This is still a problem. I constantly see posts saying "I FOUND THE KEY TO SHIFTING" or something along those lines and its just some idea the author had. Like yea cool you had that idea and maybe it helps you, but why does everything have to be framed as "the solution" and absolute truth? Cuz you want upvotes? F*ck upvotes, we're doing science not posting our balls on Instagram!
People need to be more honest in conversation. We don't know everything. We're trying to figure this all out together, but we could do a much better job at that.
But that's not even the main point I was trying to raise, I just thought of that while writing, the main point I'm trying to make is something I don't know how to name but I can describe it.
One of these misinformations that seems to have sticked into the collective consciousness of basically the entire shifting community is that "doubts stop you from shifting" (they don't).
This may have caused a catastrophe. People think they should try to desperatly not mention ANYTHING even REMOTELY doubt-y or negative. Can't let yourself have those doubting or negative thoughts, positivity!
Of course this isn't reflecting reality. Inside of ones head the doubts are still there. But I feel like a lot of people don't let those out, everything they say and especially post is getting put through a rough filter.
This just makes discourse impossible and a lot of whats posted useless. Things are always protrayed as the solution, the key, something that works, etc. etc.
Then LOA, oh LOA, you all hate LOA and I'm starting to get it.
"You become what you assume" so people keep writing "Shifting is super easy!"
Hate to break it to you but shifting is damn hard, just look at this, theres thousands of people trying for years. Yeah theres the occasional lucky person who does it quickly, but thats the exception, not the rule. Shifting is hard, and its okay I said that, me saying that wont reprogram my subconscious to make shifting harder for me or whatever, its just the truth and we can say that.
In essence people are just not being honest with themselves and it harms everyone that reads their posts as well. Misinformation is the foundation all of this was built on and it affects the very essence of how a lot of Shifters communicate. And Im not innocent either, I was like this, but I try to not anymore, cuz Id like to actually finally be able to shift again instead of LARPing as a master shifter (whatever that is).
If we want to get anywhere we need to be honest about it all. If you fail its okay. You can say whatever you want. Dont obsess over LOA or whatever. We don't know how shifting works. But if we wanna find out maybe we should avoid what I described above.
(I know, I know, Rule 1, delete the post if you want to, I get it, just thought it belonged here before I try my luck on the main sub)
